Based in the picturesque Italian town of Bassano del Grappa, Montegrappa has been making beautiful, functional pens since 1912—pens that inspire the writer to write. Among them is the Nazionale Flex. A revival of the Nazionale that was first introduced in the late ‘30s, this model has the same Art Deco styling, right down to the pocket clip’s teardrop-shaped tip. There is one notable update: a flexible 14-karat-gold nib that allows for a wide range of results on paper, depending on how much pressure you apply when you write. In keeping with the era of the original pen, which predated cartridges, the Nazionale Flex uses a piston fill mechanism. Due to the scarcity of the celluloid used to make the barrel and cap, quantities are extremely limited.
